The Movies is a simulation game created by Lionhead Studios for Microsoft Windows and subsequently ported to Apple Mac OS X by Feral Interactive. It was released on November 8, 2005 in the United States of America, and November 11, 2005 in Europe after reaching gold status on October 8, 2005.

The game allows players to take the role of a Hollywood film mogul, running a studio and creating films. Much has been made about the film-making aspect of the game, as it allows players to easily create viewable works or machinima. The game is similar to the early 1990s film production game Stunt Island; the game is also similar to the 1988 game Charlie Chaplin, the 1996 game Steven Spielberg's Director's Chair and, to a lesser extent, the 1996 game 3D Movie Maker.

Gain experience quickly

This procedure requires that you create a file and place it in your "gameinstalldata" directory. If at any time you wish to revert the game back to its original state, simply delete the file. Create a file called experience.ini containing the following information, and place it in the "gameinstalldata" folder. This will make your already hired people gain experience in large chunks, instead of in tiny increments, and will also make the people you hire on start with maximum experience.

Less stress

This will make people not get as stressed out over things as they generally would become. They may still become stressed, but it with this script it is easier to manage them back into "happy" stress. It also decreases the time it takes for them to de-stress at bars and such by a substantial amount.

Increase relationships faster

This script will make social engagements between people increase their relationship bar by much larger increments, instead of the normally tiny increments, thereby building good relationships in much less time.
