Ontario-based photographer Stephen Orlando is fascinated with the forms of human movement, and he’s probably one of those people who you will find staring at you with an inexplicable wonder when you’re actually performing a pretty mundane task.

Well, Orlando has been recently drawn to studying sports activities such as kayaking and swimming.

And by attaching LED lights of different colors to people performing these activities and using long exposure he has managed to create a series of photographs that are completely breathtaking.

As you can see for yourself in the gallery, it appears that lighting is dancing on the surface of water in miraculous patterns of color.

The act of recording motion on the surface of the water surrounded by reflections creates this effect giving you the impression you’re looking at sculptures.

If you’re curious, you can go check out Stephen Orlando’s official layer, where you’ll discover that the photographer has been shooting several other series involving movement, including the acts of playing soccer and tennis and doing karate.

There are also a bunch of cityscapes featuring the path of a cyclist’s leg visualized as they ride in Waterloo. Orlando has surely created a magical world, so go explore it a little bit.
