As Hurricane Sandy ravaged the US eastern coast, a lot of people turned to social media to keep in touch. This especially after the power went out in many places or, alternatively, after cell phone towers were knocked offline. Twitter, Facebook and company proved very useful.

While there was a lot of misinformation, on Twitter in particular, these sites were still one of the best ways of getting in touch with the people you know.

No surprise then that some of the most popular phrases on Facebook during and after the storm had to do with people telling everyone else they were OK.

In the US, the conversation on Facebook was focused entirely on the storm. People were either trying to communicate or sharing info about the damage and the problems with everyone else.

These were the top 10 most used phrases and words on Facebook in the US in the morning after the hurricane.

1. “we are ok”
2. “power” – “lost power,” “have power,” “no power”
3. “damage”
4. “hope everyone is ok”
5. “trees”
6. “made it”
7. “safe”
8. “thankful”
9. “fine”
10. “affected.”
