Toyota, Dove Men+Care, Nationwide pull at the heartstrings

Even if you’re not into sports and didn’t tune in for the Super Bowl 2015 last night, pitting the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks, there still are plenty of things that happened that might pique your interest.

For instance, Idina Menzel and John Legend’s opener, with the former singing the National Anthem and the latter delivering a very touching rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

There was also the famous Halftime performance, delivered this year by pop star Katy Perry with some help from Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott, and lots of dancing sharks and volleyballs, and a wonderful firework display.

Then, there were the ads. The NFL sells airtime during the Super Bowl for upwards of $4 million (€3.5 million) for the 30-second slot, so that means that commercials released now are some of the most beautiful pieces of advertising made all year.

Whether they sell insurance or a chocolate bar, or raise awareness on certain issues, the ads made especially for the Super Bowl are almost always a thing of beauty. Some are funny, some witty and biting, while others have potential to be real heartbreakers.

Below are those that most got people talking: featuring celebrities and regular Joes and Janes, they’re all amazing in their own right. Check them out and drop me a line afterwards in the comments with your favorite. Toyota, Dove Men+Care and Nation Wide come with onion-dicing ninja, so be warned.
