Tom Hanks has been lately involved in movie production. That should be no surprise. His latest project is an HBO television series called Big Love. It's a comedy about polygamy. And this is where HBO is taking a big brave step because the show, scheduled to debut on March 12th, after the megahit "The Sopranos", touches some issues that strike a little too close to the Mormon community.
ABC News reports that many Mormons have protested against the release of the series because they fear that it will diminish in the eyes of the public the true problems of bigamy.
The central character of Big Love is Bill Hendrickson, portrayed by Bill Paxton. He is a wealthy businessman from Salt Lake City who practices polygamy. He has three families and his main problem is hiding them from everybody, a situation destined to cause a lot of complications and problems for all people involved.
Many women, members of polygamous families, are against the way the future television series plans to present their lives. They say that this kind of lifestyle has proved to be extremely benefic for them, and the idea of sharing the marital chores with another woman didn't interfere with their lives in a negative way.
