Each hidden object game begins with a small story that throws you in the middle of an adventure where you will barely have time to think about anything but the list of objects that you need to find. Mystery Masterpiece: The Moonstone begins with a British incursion in one of the colonies and that is where the Moonstone was first discovered and stolen by on one of the soldiers.

As thirty years pass from the original incident, it seems that the Moonstone has been stolen once again. In the hope of finding it again, Franklin Blake, the owner of the mansion from where the stone was stolen, calls you. Your purpose in the game is to fill in the shoes of detective and analyze every room of the estate in search for clues, trying to figure out who the thief is.

You will have to interrogate all the guests that were on the premises when the stone was stolen, based on the clues found throughout the house. Searching for clues is not an easy task, especially when you have to solve some mini game puzzles that require the use of various tools such as tweezers, brushes and even mail openers.

Before you start your investigation you will be given a list of all the suspects, including Mr. Franklin, whom you will have to individually investigate in order to get to the bottom of the mystery. As you will dig deeper into everyone’s secrets you will find that pointing out the thief is not as easy as you might have thought at first. At the end of game, after carefully reviewing all the suspect’s files, you will have to draw the line and point out the true villain.

The gameplay in Mystery Masterpiece: The Moonstone is extremely addictive, and the list of objects that you need to find is enormous, most of the times containing small elements such as earrings, rings and other jewelry that can be hard to spot in a room filled with a lot of other objects. The level of detail in each room is exceptional – while in some hidden object games you have no difficulty in spotting out the elements that don’t belong, in this game they all blend with their environment making it quite challenging for you to point them out.

As for the background music, there’s nothing fancy about it, just classical music that creates a relaxing environment where you can search for objects in peace. You can easily adjust the volume from the Options menu and even switch it off. I would recommend at least trying the sixty-minute trial of the game and, in case you get hooked, go ahead and unlock all the features for only $19.99.
