Over the past few years, miniaturization has become a very popular trend among the manufacturers of various electronic devices, whether we're talking about mobile phones, MP3 players or computer peripherals. And a very good example of this trend is represented by the Mogo Mouse X54Pro presented by the Newton Peripherals company, as this device puts together a mouse and a presenter
in a slick, compact ExpressCard/54 form factor.
Thus, this ultra-portable peripheral sports an easy-to-switch, all-in-one design, which allows the users to rapidly change between mouse mode and presenter mode. Moreover, the device tucks away in a computer's ExpressCard and also recharges its internal 90 mAh batteries in the process (30 minutes recharge time, 8-10 hours functioning time). The Mogo Mouse X54Pro connects to the host computer via Bluetooth (supports the Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR specification) and provides a functioning range of around 10 meters, which is probably just enough anyway.
Let's see now the exact details of each separate function. Thus, the MoGo Mouse X54 Pro provides the same basic functions as any other conventional laser mice (namely scroll, right click, left click), but in a much more portable form factor and features a laser engine with an 800 DPI resolution (which is not extraordinary, but it will probably have to do for a portable mouse).
As a presenter, the MoGo Mouse X54 Pro provides some entry level features, as for example a slide changer (forward and backward), a start/escape button and a laser pointer that can be used for highlighting the most important elements of one's presentation. Moreover, changing between the two separate modes is quite an easy task, as everything the user has to do is press a small switch on the bottom of the unit, which will then automatically remap the buttons.
Right now, the Mogo Mouse X54 Pro is available just for preorder, but it will hit the shelves this August and we'll then provide you with all the necessary pricing information.
