For now, other New Control Play! titles are still supported by Nintendo

Considering that the general purpose of a business is to generate income, and preferably, profit, some corporate decisions are very strange. On some few occasions, the members of a large company remember that they once had a soul, and that they were kids and that they had emotions too, and, as such, they make a decision that isn't money-driven. But, this time around, the decision is not something made for the fans and it doesn't look like it's for the investors either.

Nintendo has announced that the Metroid Prime Trilogy, the Collectors Edition is "no longer being shipped," so, if you wanted to get it, but you had your hands full with the the fall releases, or Christmas presents, then you might just have to scour the Earth to get a copy.

Talking to Coffee With Games, Nintendo made the announcement, but failed to give a reason for its decision. "[It] is no longer being shipped," the company said. "When first introduced, it was announced that there would be limited availability. However, a reason for this was not announced. That being said, you may still be able to locate a copy via stores that specialize in previously played or used games." The decision is indeed mysterious. Nintendo titles aren't known for being sprinters, but long-distance runners, as their products tend to have a rather constant sales curve.

One sign that this decision could hint to is the company's general attitude towards New Play Control! titles, as this was the first one in the series. Through this system, the first two Metroid Prime games received support for the Wii motion controls. Right now, the official word on New Play Control! is that Nintendo will continue to support these games, but with Metroid's Collectors Edition going under after just four months, its support could be short lived. Answering one fan's e-mail, the company assured us that the rest of the NPC! games "are still being shipped," so we'll still have an easy time getting our hands on Pikmin, Mario Power Tennis or Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
