14 DAY TRIAL // Keep the fingers on one of your hands crossed and use the ones on the other to dig deep in your pockets and, soon enough, you might just be blessed with having a McDonald's restaurant open in a church near you.
Thus, a group of entrepreneurs are now trying to raise $1 million (€0.8 million) to buy a McDonald's franchise and open a fast food restaurant in a church either in New Jersey or in Philadelphia, US.
These guys' fundraising campaign launched on Indiegogo about a week and a half ago, on November 17. As popular as McDonald's is in the US, these entrepreneurs have until now managed to raise merely $100 (€80).
Then again, the campaign will run until January 16, so maybe, just maybe, The McMass Project will managed to get the money it needs to put a McDonald's restaurant in a church.
Mind you, the folks behind this initiative don't want to open a McDonald's in a church because fast food and praying are about as close to the divine as anyone could ever hope to get.
They expect that this little project of theirs will help bring more people to church. In fact, they got the idea after they learned that, whereas the US church loses 3 million people each and every year, fast food restaurants are insanely popular.
“By combining a church and a McDonald's we can create a self-sustaining, community-engaged, popular church, and an unparalleled McDonald's restaurant,” the entrepreneurs explain.
Truth be told, I for one doubt that these guys will get the funds they need to jump start this project. However, this does not change the fact that I would love and adore to see a McDonald's restaurant open in a church.
It would speak loads about the world we live in, don't you think?
