The Mayor of NYC: Shakira's Hips Don't Lie

The Mayor of New York has discovered the truth behind Shakira's lyrics to the hit of the summer and, accordingly, has decided to support her in the MTV race for 'Video of the Year' award. He claims that the fact that he is presently studying Spanish intensely on his iPod was not the reason that made him just love the Latino singer.

Bloomberg is set to show his support for Shakira because, he says, indeed 'those hips don't lie' (referring to her famous curvy body). His other options would have been Christina Aguilera (born in Stated Island) and Madonna (who became famous in NYC), but he chose to bypass city loyalty and go for what his heart told him.

'As Mayor of New York, this is really a tough one. I could go with Christina; she was born in New York... I could go with Madonna; she made it big here in New York. I think I'm going to have to go with Shakira. Those hips don't lie', were the Mayor's exact words.

More than just showing and voicing his support for the singer, Mayor Bloomberg even agreed to having a short spot filmed, in which he expresses his choice for the award. It aired first on 'Total Request Live' countdown show and it will occasionally repeat before the awards take place on Thursday evening.
