“Survive 2012” is a new iPhone application by GPP Software that is admittedly geared towards entertainment but for those who fear the world may end tomorrow, it also links to some handy survival guides.

I just love the idea of the world ending yet somehow still have people “surviving” the ordeal – let alone thanks to an iPhone app.

But for the sake of indulging everyone, here’s a free app called “survive 2012” that provides "a countdown to the moment when the Long Count turns to 13.0.0.0.0 as well as a link to an exclusive information and survival guide (just in case!),” says the developer.

Before you jump to the download, do take note of the fact that some reports say there are many inscriptions at Maya sites that specify dates far beyond 2012, including one that can put the end of the world in the year 4772. Just sayin’.

If you’re really worried about surviving 2012, make sure no fireworks blow in your face as the clock strikes 00:00 on December 31st.
