All the commotion generated by the information that iTunes might sell videoclips and that starting with September we might have a video iPod video might make us overlook another important piece of news coming from Cupertino.
IDC has published the Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker report, which
analyzes the sale trends regarding the computing systems. Aside from the fact that the market is growing and that the main factor is represented by laptops, the report also contains a short analysis on the Mac sales.
There's no point in talking about the iPod because a 616% increase compared to the last quarter should come as no surprise, but a 35% increase in Mac sales is not something you hear about everyday.
The following problem is given: if Apple will maintain its constant growth rate and will ship every quarter 1,200,000 Macs, how many years it will take Apple to boost its 5% market share?
And keep in mind that every Mac sold means also another Mac OS X. Therefore the controversy related to the
Apple's migration to Intel and to the Windows/Mac OS X dilemma might have a simple solution. Mac OS X will run solely on Mac and that will be enough to boost sales.
