Considering that in 2005 everybody has to come with new MP3 models, Panasonic announced the launching of four new models, some based on SD memory cards and some on flash memory.
The two SD based players are SV-SD100V and SV-SD90 SD, which are the first models to use the new miniSD.
Considering their dimensions and weight of only 42 x 42 x 17.4 mm and 39g, these
MP3 players can be wore as necklaces.
Both models are equipped with OLED displays and the supported formats are: MP3, WMA and AAC.
Power is supplied by a rechargeable battery which can be charged either through the USB port or directly at the plug, the functioning time per charge being 50 hours. SV-SD100V also has FM tuner with 20 different stations and voice recording functions.
The two Flash memory models: SV-MP720V (512MB) and SV-MP730V (1GB) are a little bit bigger in size: 70 x 22.2 x 14mm.
Unlike SD based players, these models only render MP3 and WMA. The power is also supplied by batteries which can be recharged via an USB port or the plug, but the functioning time is only 10 hours.
Panasonic also launched two SD based stereo systems which are able to transfer music directly to the memory card without the need of a PC. All the user has to do is to place a CD in the player and in only 19 minutes it will be transferred on the SD card.
SC-PM910DVD and SC-PM710SD include an optical device which can store up to 5 CDs , 1GB SD card can store 500 songs, that is 34 hours of 64kbps compressed music.
