The release of the Catalyst 14.1 driver got postponed due to an installation issue

I would have loved to present you with the new, long-awaited Catalyst 14.1 graphics driver from AMD, but, unfortunately, its release got delayed because of an installation issue found during the internal testing.

The excitement created over the Mantle API is because of the unprecedented performance improvements it should bring. AMD wishes that its new product will rival Direct3D and OpenGL by using the GPU in a manner that will deliver great performance.

American Micro Devices is said to have its team in “overdrive” with fixing the highly anticipated release and promises to publish it by tomorrow.

Given that this is the last day of January and AMD's recent issue put it out of schedule, the new Catalyst might be named 14.2, if we are to keep up with its current naming scheme of “year.month.”

We'll see what tomorrow brings and whether AMD manages to publish the new Catalyst. Until then, keep an eye on our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
