The LiveDVD of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.2 Is Out

Slackware for 64-bit users.

Attila Craciun has announced today the release of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.2 LiveDVD. This version features almost all applications that are included in the Bluewhite64 Linux Install DVD plus software created by the Bluewhite64 Linux community. This LiveDVD has been made to run on both single and multi core 64-bit processors, but running 32-bit applications is possible through IA32 Emulation.

"I have the joy announcing the Bluewhite64 Linux 12.2 LiveDVD stable version is ready for download!" – Attila Craciun said in the official release announcement.

Bluewhite64 Linux 12.2 LiveDVD uses the 2.6.27.10 Linux kernel, boasting advanced features and an improved performance. New packages have been added along with many security updates. Several new games are included in the DVD: Extreme Tux Racer, Battle for Wesnoth, Super Tux 1 & 2. The Blender application that allows users to create 3D content is also in the default install.

Highlights of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.2 LiveDVD:

· Linux kernel 2.6.27.10;
· Bluewhite64 Linux Server with Samba, CUPS, Apache2, PHP, MySql, Sendmail, etc.;
· HDD installation through a graphical user interface (GUI) called BW64Installer;
· Open Source program developing with GCC, C++, Fortran, Ada, GCJ, Objective-c, Eclipse;
· 3D Desktop effects;
· Firefox 3.0.6, SeaMonkey, Konqueror with flash and java out of the box;
· KMail and Mozilla Thunderbird for email handling;
· Kopette and Pidgin for instant messaging;
· MPlayer, Xine, Audacious for multimedia files playback;
· OpenOffice.org 3.0;
· K3B 1.05;
· ALICE, slackpkg or slapt-get package managers.
