Do you want to go to the supermarket, but you can't remember what you've bought last time, what do you still have in the pantry or in the fridge, and you don't really feel like looking in all of those places? Well, we all go through one of these phases at some point, and that's exactly the reason that led to the creation of the IntelliScanner Kitchen Companion, a bar code reader that will allow you to keep track of all the products you've bought or need to buy.

IntelliScanner Kitchen Companion is really very user-friendly. All you need to do is scan the bar codes of the products you've purchased from the supermarket, and then connect the device to your computer, in order to upload the database to its own software. As various items get used you scan them again, this time to remove them from the database.

And when it's time to head for the supermarket once again, the software will automatically produce a list of what's needed that can be easily exported to your iPod, Palm device, Pocket PC or cellphone.

IIntelliScanner Kitchen Companion can recognize a huge range of products (over 300,000, say the producers), not all of them foods, and the database can be updated via the Internet.

The product is available in two variants, a tethered version (always attached to your computer) which costs $149 or a portable version (take it anywhere and sync to the computer via serial cable or Bluetooth) for $249.
