The Linux Foundation has announced that its 2012 Linux Training Scholarship Program is now opening for applicants and that a new Enterprise Linux Training program has also been initiated.

The Linux Foundation wants to prepare people for the ever-increasing demand of Linux professionals. They are citing polls that confirm the fact that employers now consider hiring people who have Linux training, especially because these employees are harder to find.

The annual Scholarship Program is awarding five scholarships to computer science students, Linux developers, and architects, each scholarship covering the expenses of one course from The Linux Foundation's course catalog, which is almost $2500 (€2000).

"The Linux Foundation exists to protect, promote and advance Linux. Part of the work of advancing the platform is investing in the talent needed to support it," said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and developer programs at The Linux Foundation.

The submission forms are available online and anyone can join.
