The Leonard Cohen Movie

Cohen is a real musical legend and, at one point in time, fans actually joined forces and signed a petition that was to get him the Nobel Prize for Literature. It was a beautiful gesture that, unfortunately, ended disappointingly.

The new movie 'Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man' will be released at the end of June only in select theaters in Los Angeles and New York and its soundtrack will appear in stores all over the world at the end of next month.

The film depicts Cohen's life, from his early beginning as a poet at the young age of 8, until the present (he is 71) and his constant search for beauty and truth. Although the artist can still sing magically and enchant every listener with his words, the movie rather lacks distinction and continuity.

'I'm Your Man' is directed by Lian Lunson and produced by Mel Gibson and enjoys a myriad of artists that offered to pay their respects to such an amazing source of inspiration by joining to sing for the soundtrack. Among them, U2 stands apart and Bono couldn't quite stop himself from praising Cohen, naming him, quote, 'our Byron, our Shelley'. The soundtrack also features performances from Rufus and the man himself, Leonard.

With all due respect, we must advise you to think twice about going to see the said movie. The artist may be great but his cinematographic biography will, for sure, leave you with a bad taste and rather confused by all that mixture of live footages and concerts (shot with trembling hand cameras), voiced over by the artist.
