The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning Unlockables (DS)

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning offers four stunning worlds, each with three distinct levels, providing extensive gameplay. As they evolve throughout the game, players take to the skies with Spyro to battle ruthless enemies, acquire more power and gain new abilities. The game has been developed by Krome Studios and Amaze Entertainment for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance systems, with a separate version for the Nintendo DS. It is part of a trilogy, set to revamp the old Spyro franchise, by taking the little dragon to new adventures, unrelated to the other games in the series.

The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning preserves a more action-based focus than previous Spyro games, uses limitedly Spyro's gliding ability, and is less based on the collection of items and playing of minigames. Instead, Spyro is capable of a variety of combat moves, as well as of four different breath attacks: fire, electricity, ice, and earth, which can be both long-range and short range. The little dragon can also use furies, or huge blasts of elemental damage, to take out his enemies.

The DS version provides further means of attacking and more challenges. In addition to the breath attacks and furies, Spyro can create an elemental shield around himself, which protects him from his enemies. Furthermore, the handheld version boasts a wide range of other features, namely extra side missions in the form of puzzles.
