If you were starting to have the feeling that turn based strategy games need to be reinvigorated somehow, developer Ndoors Interactive might have the answer: Atlantica, a
MMOG that promises to bring back to life the ancient legend of Atlantis, launches the closed beta in July (which means that most of us won't get the chance to check it out right now).
The game promises to bring back to life the classic
TBS gameplay and mix it with
some strategic framework that encompasses combat, character and party development as well as city or country management. And this is indeed something that makes you curious - especially when you hear that the developers claim they have created a special combat system which will set the game apart from all the other MMOs available on the market.
"We really strived to create a game that gave players something new," said Peter Kang, CEO of Ndoors Interactive. "Atlantica was designed to bring the gameplay that RPG and strategy fans love the most to the MMO world. Atlantica takes smarts, requiring planning and strategy at every step."
The story is pretty straightforward: players will take on the quest of destroying the Oriharukon energy, which is a powerful sensor from Atlantis poisoning the entire world. This exciting journey will take players around the globe, and you'll visit lots of ancient civilizations from Hanyang (Korea), Indus Valley (India and Pakistan), Mesopotamia (Iraq, Syria and Turkey) and Egypt, as well as North America and legendary locales such as the Pyramids and Angkor Wat.
As I have said in the beginning, the closed beta will start this July, but there is no word about an open beta stage or a potential release date. So, you should check the official website of the game
here and keep your eyes on Softpedia for the latest news on Atlantica.
