Naughty Dog has confirmed that it's currently discussing a discount scheme for owners of The Last of Us on the PS3 console, so that they can buy the upcoming The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 for a lower price.

The Last of Us appeared last year on the PlayStation 3 and amazed millions of gamers with a top-notch story that focused on survival, not to mention a highly addictive multiplayer that used most of the survival mechanics and combined them with strategic goals.

Developer Naughty Dog has since released plenty of different DLC packs, including a new single-player story-based expansion called Left Behind.

The studio also revealed earlier this month that the game would appear on PS4 in the form of a The Last of Us Remastered edition.

As you can imagine, some fans were upset by the fact that they would need to buy the game twice in order to experience it on two different platforms.

However, according to Naughty Dog Community Manager Eric Monacelli, who talked with fans on PS blog, a potential discount might be offered for PS3 users who already own The Last of Us and who want to get the Remastered edition for PS4.

Unfortunately, it's still in the project phase, as the studio is gathering feedback from all the PlayStation regions worldwide.

You can expect to hear more about a potential lower price for The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 as we get closer to the game's release this summer.
