The Last of Us: Remastered, the PlayStation 4 version of the already classic game from developer Naughty Dog and Sony, has managed take over the number one position in the NPD Group created software chart for the month of July on the United States market.

The title has achieved the performance despite the fact that it is a platform exclusive, which shows both how well the PS4 has been performing during the last month and the relative weakness of the other titles released during the period.

The rest of the top ten includes, according to data quoted by NeoGAF:

Minecraft - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) FIFA 14 - PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the PC, PS3 and 360 Watch Dogs - Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3, 360 and PC Mario Kart 8 - Wii U Call of Duty: Ghosts - PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and 360 Grand Theft Auto V - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Sniper Elite III - PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One and 360 NBA 2K14 - Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PS3, 360 and PC Lego Marvel Super Heroes - 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox One and 360

The increased spending on hardware in July also means that video games sales were down by 15 percent during the month, which might point to a long term problem with the current generation of hardware.
