There already are more people playing multiplayer on the PS4 than on the PS3 version

The Last of Us Remastered for the PlayStation 4 seems to have gotten to a very good start, in spite of the fact that it's basically the same game that Naughty Dog released last June for the PS3.

The revised and enhanced edition of one of last year's best games managed to top the best seller charts of retailers all over the world, and is sitting pretty comfortable on this year's biggest Metacritic score.

The game shot to the top of pretty much every Amazon storefront in the world, with the United States, Spain, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and France Amazon online pages all featuring Naughty Dog's creation as the leading item in the video games section.

Furthermore, The Last of Us Remastered player count for multiplayer already overtook the PlayStation 3 version's similar stat, as shared by Naughty Dog's Drew Thaler, who posted a screenshot of the monitoring tools on Twitter.

The game was so successful that the fact that so many people were playing it in multiplayer brought to light some issues regarding the multiplayer matchmaking system, with studio co-founder Christophe Balestra addressing the matter via Twitter:

"We are aware that The Last of Us PS4 matchmaking is taking too much time to find games. We're looking into it... Thanks for your patience."

Fortunately, the team is already rolling out a patch, version 1.01.005, meant to solve the matchmaking problems, as designer Robert Ryan informs. The patch should arrive shortly, and you'll need to restart the game in order to install it.
