The online mode is quite complex and requires micro-management

The multiplayer mode from the upcoming The Last of Us survival game has received even more leaked details, this time from a source who's actually played the online experience and tried out its different mechanics.

The Last of Us is out next month for the PlayStation 3, and many fans are looking forward not just to going through the single-player experience starring Joel and Ellie, but also to the multiplayer mode that's been confirmed but hasn't received any official details.

Now, after hearing quite a few leaked details obtained via files included in either God of War: Ascension or in The Last of Us demo, a bunch of new pieces of info have surfaced on the web, via TSA.

According to the website, the online mode makes players choose one of two teams of survivors taken from the single-player plot.

After choosing a faction, players can customize their character in terms of appearance and create their own emblem.

After that, players can select a loadout from the four default ones: Assault, Sniper, Support, or Stealth, each with four custom slots and additional skills that can impact various gameplay mechanics, like the Listen Mode, which carries over from the single-player campaign.

Unlike in the story, however, Listen Mode only works for a few seconds and then enters cooldown. Players can also choose various skills that negate its effect and remain undetected no matter the situation.

Other skills affect the time it takes to craft items or the killing of enemies. One-time use boosters can also be employed but the clan needs to reach a certain level of popularity to unlock them.

Players will need to lead their clan and group of survivors for a certain number of days or weeks, and each day represents an online match in one of two modes: Supply Raid or Survivors.

Supply Raid sees players from each clan scavenge for supplies in a level with a limit of 20 lives. Survivors consists of seven-round matches and death is permanent each round.

Both game modes allow for up to four players on each team, leading to a maximum number of eight simultaneous players.
