The Last of Us has managed to spend a third week at the top of the United Kingdom video game chart, taking full advantage of the summer decrease in new launches.

The game was developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony exclusively on the PlayStation 3, which makes its sales performance even more impressive, and has been lauded by most reviewers for the way it has managed to tell a complex and emotional post-apocalyptic story.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is the surprise second place for the week that ended on June 29, showing that the PC indie hit has also managed to find a big audience on the Microsoft home console.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the Nintendo title, sits on the last position of the podium this week, sliding down one place when compared to the last seven-day period, according to UKIE.

FIFA 13 continues its impressive performance in the United Kingdom and it seems that not even the final whistle of the Premier League has managed to decrease its appeal for longtime fans.

FIFA 14, which will use the new Ignite tech on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, will launch in late September.

The Sims 3: Island Paradise, which expands the experiences available in the life simulation, is another new entry for the week and has managed to land in sixth place, followed by Deadpool, the title featuring the self-aware superhero from High Moon Studios and Activision.

Tomb Raider is in seventh place, down three positions from last week, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has dropped the same number of places.

Assassin’s Creed III keeps its own place in ninth, while Company of Heroes 2, the real-time strategy game from Relic, closes down the UK top ten with its Eastern Front focused experience.
