The Writers Guild of America announces that The Last of Us, the game created by Naughty Dog and published by Sony, has received its Outstanding Achievement in Videogames Writing award for 2014.

The recipient of the award was Neil Druckmann, creative director behind The Last of Us, says Gamasutra.

The game was launched in the middle of last year and received plenty of praise from critics while also managing to become a commercial success on the PlayStation 3.

The Writers Guild of America has previously honored video games like Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Dead Head Fred.

At the moment, Naughty Dog is working on the only single-player downloadable content for The Last of Us, which is called Left Behind and will be launched on February 14.

The studio also plans to deliver more multiplayer content in the future.
