A new development team is involved with the project

The Last Guardian is one of those video games that fans love even if they have not received official news about them for a few years, but it seems that E3 2015 might just be the moment when Sony and Team Ico will deliver fresh info about the state of the experience.

Rumors from NeoGAF are also saying that Mark Cerny might be involved with the development process, bringing in the knowledge of the PlayStation 4 that he and his team have obtained while creating launch title Knack.

Both pieces of information are coming from sources that have knowledge about The Last Guardian, but it seems that no one is willing to go on the record for the moment.

Fans will probably closely watch Sony’s press conference, but they should not get their hopes up that the game will be re-revealed.

The company had previously had issues with the trademark associated with the game and said that the game creation process was continuing when it renewed it.

The Last Guardian has been in development for so long that director Fumito Ueda has since left the company he created, although he is continuing to be involved with the project as a contractor.

Sony does need more PlayStation 4 exclusives

The rumors about a re-reveal for The Last Guardian make sense given that the PlayStation 4 has a relatively low number of exclusive titles coming in the next 12 months.

Sony has acknowledged this and says it will make sure that users get quality content, which might mean that some big reveals are coming at E3 2015.

The Last Guardian has been in development, in one form or another, since 2007 and was initially set to be launched on the PS3.

The project, regardless of the state it is in, will be offered on the PlayStation 4, and Team Ico has repeatedly said it wants to deliver a title that offers a new take on the way players interact with the world around them.

Both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will inform the actual gameplay of The Last Guardian, but at the moment it's unclear how much of the original vision for the title survives.
