New possession flick will be out in spring, pick up where the original left off

One of the most surprising horror releases of 2010 was, without a doubt, “The Last Exorcism.” It wasn’t the “last” though, because a sequel is coming out in March 2013.

Check out the new trailer for the unimaginatively titled “The Last Exorcism Part II” above in full.

Whereas the first one was a faux documentary about a priest who performed exorcisms even though he didn’t believe in them, this one picks up from where the original left off by focusing on the formerly possessed Nell (Ashley Bell).

“Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning,” a synopsis of the film says.

The trailer looks promising enough, even though way below the standards set by the original. However, I have a feeling you should not be holding your breath for “Part II” to be as impressive and, well, scary.
