Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world's largest provider of thin-film transistor and liquid crystal display (TFT -LCD) panels, released today what is said to be the industry's first 1.98" LCD panel to achieve VGA resolution, because of the manufacturer's innovative amorphous silicon (a-Si) technology.

The manufacturer announced that it will show its latest LCD during SID 2006 Conference in San Francisco, June 6 through June 8.

As a result, mobile phones which will feature this new display will be able to show Windows screens and documents in the same way in which they appear on desktop or notebook monitors with VGA capabilities.

Because of Samsung's latest development - amorphous silicon gates technology - the new 1.98" VGA LCD can offer, according to the company's representatives, a great efficiency in design and module processing. Thus, the new LCD can 'display' over 16 million colors, and has a very fast data rate transfer, different from the one that is featured by most of the up-to-date monitors.

Samsung's latest 1.98" VGA LCD is a special LCD screen with liquid crystals that provide a wide viewing angle, and with images that are very bright - 250 nit - and clean - contrast ratio of 300 to 1. This is why Samsung believes that the mobile phones' future is already under its power, as every specialized manufacturer tries to decrease the sizes of its products and enhance every function on offer.

It seems that the user will benefit from quality mobile TV images, as it is able to individualize the visual details as small as, and you will not believe this, 63 microns - imagine that this is half the average width of a human hair (120 microns).

A 'classic' 40" HD LCD TV has 40 pixels per square inch, while the new 1.98" LCD panel has 10 times as many, or, simpler, 400 ppi.
