All but confirmed

Nobody thought that creating a videogame about LEGO bricks, which could take the shape of well-known characters, would be feasible and even less people believed that a LEGO series could go on for quite a few years and attract so much praising from both players and critics.

Yet, Traveller’s Tales has managed to create such a series with its LEGO franchise, which debuted by adapting Star Wars, both the original trilogy and the new prequel movies, before going on to also use franchises like Batman and Indiana Jones.

Now, it seems that the development studio has been working, for some time, on two new games using LEGO pieces, tackling one entirely fresh franchise and one old friend. Reports coming from Gamesindustry.biz and VG247 are saying that Traveller’s Tales is creating both Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the Harry Potter videogames. The first clue was the CV of one animator at Traveller’s Tales that listed both games as “in development” and now the same animator has confirmed that progress is quite brisk.

In January, sources within the studio said that no Harry Potter-themed game would be arriving in 2009, which probably means that, in time for Christmas, we will likely be playing as Indiana Jones made of LEGO bricks, with the Harry Potter game, probably based on the first book in the series, coming sometime in 2010.

Meanwhile, players interested in the adventures of the boy wizard can look forward to the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, which is published by Electronic Arts and should come alongside the movie with the same name sometime this year (probably in time for Christmas).

Let’s hope that the Indiana Jones: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull game manages to capture all the retro cool that the movie oozed, including the “nuke the fridge” section.
