The King of Fighters 2006 Tips and Unlockables (PS2)

Just like the good old Street Fighter games, The King of Fighters 2006 requires the player to complete the game in order to unlock the hidden characters. It's not an easy task, considering that each completion of the game awards you with a new character. You'll have to beat the game up to 14 times with different characters and I'm talking about the story mode, that will seem easy in the beginning, but the final fights can be a real pain. Here are the the unlockable characters you can find and the perfect ways to make them playable:

Kim Kaphwan - Beat the game once

Richard Myer - Beat the game twice with different characters

Fio - Beat the game 3 times with different characters

Hanzo Hattori - Beat the game 4 times with different characters

B. Jenet - Beat the game 5 times with different characters

Nightmare Geese - Beat the game 6 times with different characters

Lilly Kane - Beat the game 7 times with different characters

Ninon Beart - Beat the game 8 times with different characters

Wild Wolf (MOTW Terry) - Beat the game 9 times with different characters

Classic Kyo Kusanagi - Beat the game 10 times with different characters

Mr Karate - Beat the game 11 times with different characters

Armor Ralf - Beat the game 12 times with different characters

Hyena - Beat the game 13 times with different characters

Jivatma - Beat the game 14 times with different characters

Do you think that a couple of costumes are too many? You have many feminine playable characters and they have to dress properly, you know. Ash is a costume, and Hanzo is actually a character.

You unlock a costume the first time you beat story mode with a character, the first time you beat Time Attack with a character, the first time you beat a mission, and periodically throughout Survival. So beating the game with every character gets you a chunk, beating Time Attack with every character gets you a chunk, and beating the missions gets you a ton. There are 300-some costumes to unlock (8 per character).

The unlock order is like this. When you meet the requirements to get a costume with a character (beat a mode or mission), if you do not have all the costumes for that character, you get another one for that character. If you DO have all the costumes for that character, then you get a costume for another random character instead.

You unlock new characters the same way you unlock costumes, just more infrequently. And you'll have all the characters long before you have all the costumes

Extra Outfit Colors
There are several methods of unlocking additional colors for each character's outfits. You can get up to 4 extra colors (E, F, G and H) for each charcter's Normal and Another outfit. Select the character and outfit of your choice, then do one of the following:

Extra Colors - Awarded every few stages in Quest Survival

Unlocking stages
There are 8 stages you can unlock. They unlock in order from top to bottom, regardless of the order of which conditions you meet. Simply complete all the conditions below to unlock all the stages.

Condition 8 - Beat stage 200 in quest survival.
Condition 7 - Beat stage 120 in quest survival.
Condition 6 - Beat stage 60 in quest survival.
Condition 5 - Beat the last 50 hard missions.
Condition 4 - Beat the first 50 hard missions.
Condition 3 - Beat the last 50 easy missions.
Condition 2 - Beat the first 50 easy missions.
Condition 1 - Beat story mode.

Hard Missions
Succeed in all 10 levels of Easy Missions to unlock Hard Missions.
