14 DAY TRIAL // Since executive producer Jeff Zucker left ABC – and Katie Couric’s show Katie – for CNN, there’s been nothing but chaos on Katie. A new report suggests that season 3 might not even be made because of it.
Insiders say for Page Six that a “lack of leadership” will be the end of Katie, as the show fails to find a balance between more serious topics and daytime-friendly issues because there’s no one to call the shots.
“The show was oversold at syndication and hasn’t lived up to expectations,” says a spy.
With Jeff out of the picture, the same tipster believes Couric will also abandon ship to follow him over at CNN, which obviously means season 3 of Katie will never happen.
“Now everyone at ABC is gossiping that Katie will end up at CNN with Jeff,” the insider adds.
