Jonah Hill rips into the Kardashian Klan: they're a disgusting part of our culture

The Kardashian are a very easy target these days: it's almost as if Kim's divorce from Kris Humphries has suddenly given everybody the courage to speak against them from a public platform. The latest celebrity to do so is actor Jonah Hill.

In a new interview cited by the Daily Mail, the “Moneyball” star takes aim at the Kardashians, saying they are the perfect example of what's wrong with our culture, how degraded and rotten it has become.

However, unlike Daniel Craig before, who branded them “[expletive]-ing idiots” for selling their personal life for fame and then demanding privacy, Hill's quarrel with the Klan is strictly career-related.

He simply can't believe they have better ratings on their reality shows than legitimate scripted series. This in itself, Hill believes, confirms that hard work doesn't always pay off.

“The truth of it is, I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on – writing and creating and trying to tell stories,” Hill explains.

“The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting. It’s a super disgusting part of our culture, but I still find it funny to make a joke about it,” he adds.

At the end of the day, though, he could be no different from the millions who tune in every week to see the Kardashians' latest antics on TV. He too could be a fan and he just doesn't know it yet.

“Whenever I say I like reality TV, people write about it like they’re in shock. I can’t even understand it, so I watch it. I think it’s funny and I definitely enjoy it in a making-fun-of-it sort of way, but where does the line sort of end? When do I stop making fun of it and become an actual fan?” Hill asks.

While Kardashians' fame is a “disgusting” part of our culture, the blame doesn't lay with them, he continues. As the saying goes, you made your bed and now you have to sleep in it – i.e. we the public, those who watch their shows are to be held accountable.

“The Kardashians are as famous as our president. What does that tell you about how skewed our society is?” Hill asks.

Kris Jenner will probably demand an apology any minute now.
