Nick says he initiated the discussion, stresses “we’re family first”

First the Jonas Brothers canceled their tour shortly before it was about to kick off, then they announced that they had decided to call it quits, at least for a while. Hours ago on Good Morning America, Nick, Joe, and Kevin went into the details of this decision.

The reason they thought it would be best to pause their work as a band and pursue solo projects was creative differences, they say, as the video above can confirm.

Contrary to what is being written in the press, it was Nick who initiated the conversation because he was feeling “trapped” and he thought going on tour under the circumstances would not end well.

“We're family first and that's always been our main priority and so honesty within what we do as a group was really important. I came to the table with the guys... and shared my heart with them and my feelings,” he says.

“I said, ‘Look, I feel like we've had some complications within the group for a long time [and] without addressing them I think this train will fall off the tracks.’ It was a tough conversation. It was the first time we really had that real conversation,” Nick adds.

The boys don’t rule out the possibility of coming back together farther down the road but, for the time being, their sticking together just doesn’t make sense.
