Cool digital radio with a retro touch

Radio has come quite a long way since its childhood, and from the all-tube stations to the all-digital ones the gap seems infinite. Yet, some designers seem to look at things from a different point of view, at the same time being able to mix in elements from both worlds: the extended functionality and high-class audio quality of the digital radio with the familiar and warm look of the retro tabletop units.

It's the case of the John Lewis DAB Clock Radio, a most nifty piece of audio gadgetry that will instantly add richness and refinement to any room, whether you're thinking about your bedroom or your office.

Available in both white and black

Equally suitable for your bedside and your workplace, this small radio will let you enjoy your fav radio programs and your preferred music while at the same time allowing you to benefit from all the advantages of digital broadcasting. With a very intuitive design and easy operation, the John Lewis Retro DAB also comes with an automatic dimming display for your increased comfort. You'll surely enjoy the 4 different alarms that can be individually configured to wake you up to tone, DAB or FM; and if you have busy weekends, you can also specify different settings for Saturdays and Sundays.

You'll be able to set up to 20 preset stations so you can get to the info or music you're looking for with one simple click. The John Lewis Retro DAB comes with a three-year guarantee and it is available in both black and white finish, each with a different wood trim. The price tag reads around $100 and this could mean that the John Lewis Retro DAB can be a very cool Christmas gift for someone you care about or, why not, for your very self.

I thought i would write a review as there is not a single one on the whole internet about this radio! I bought this after looking at a lot of bad reviews about sony and pure clock radios and decided to take a gamble on the brief description on the john lewis website. And it paid off!

It looks stunning, with a nice wooden snooze button section, really retro&modern. When you turn it on, it adjusts to the correct time and scans in all the DAB stations. It has 4 alarms, can be set daily or at the weekend - most radios will only let you wake up to radio OR buzzer but its great waking up to the radio then 20 mintues later having the buzzer wake you up! Can't fault it really, the sound quality is great, it is readable without being blindingly bright like my last clock radio and has all the functions you want in a clock radio (including a headphone socket for some reason!) DAB is great too, I used to have a DAB and thought it was awful but they must have built more transmitters because the reception is perfect now. It has scrolling text so you can see info of your station too (football results, news etc) which is a nice touch.

All in all, its well worth paying the extra money for something you'll really be happy with!
