What next?

The Japanese seem to be the ones to bring out the most innovative phone concepts and most evolved high technology gadgets. They are the ones to bring the clamshell phone with three fully functional display screens.

Two screens on a clamshell phone is somewhat of a default feature when it comes to functionality. More is better, so why not overdo it? The Japanese mobile phone operator Au KDDI has released details on a mind-blowing concept. This takes advantage of the touchscreen technology and stretches its limits to the max by placing huge display screens on the upper clamshell and another one beneath the keypad.

Touchscreen technology has made it possible for many smartphones to get rid of the old-fashioned, sometimes uncomfortable button keypad. We would have rather expected producers to use this technology for getting rid of all the buttons. They preferred to keep it and place a display screen under it, to provide a wide variety of effects.

The phone looks great even in the prototype phase, as the screens cover all the case surface, right to its borders. The phone's battery should also be considerably resistant in order to be able to live up to such demands. Aside from the light for the display, the device must also provide enough energy to support mobile applications and games.

Such a mobile phone concept will be quite difficult for the competition to top. Using four display screens would be absurd, as there could be no possible use for such a feature. Still, if these three were touch sensitive, things would surely change.

Au KDDI has already launched several unusual mobile phones on the market, which would make it little surprising to see them launch this one too. The company has made no specifications on the potential release date, as the phone's performances are still being tested.
