This particularly special phone that was designed to bravely withstand the hashest treatment is now going to literally make history, as it has just entered the Guinness World Record Book. Released by
Dragon Den's star Peter Jones, it has been now proved to be the “toughest” phone ever built.
The device had to survive and, on top of that, to still be fully operational after being so “cruelly” tested this summer. Now, the results of those tests have been recognized even by the Guinness World Record organization.
Keep in mind that the
Guinness Record judges accepted only superficial damage, which means that screen cracks were disqualifying. Moreover, the device had to be fully operational after every test, as well after all the tests were completed.
Speaking of which, these mostly consisted of doing things that would normally destroy all other phones on the market. First, it was dropped from the bucket of a JCB digger from various altitudes, even from the height of 3.25m. These attempts left the Toughphone “unscarred,” so it was then placed on the ground for heavy machineries to run it over – but it was still of no use. The phone was still doing what it was designed for, and even after it was placed in a cement mixer while it was running, or drenched by an industrial hose, the JCB phone still did not give up.
Bob Plaschke's, chief executor of Toughphone, declared this about the recent accomplishment: "From the very start we set out to make rugged phones for people who work and play in rugged environments. We're thrilled that Guinness World Records has recognized the
JCB Toughphone as officially the toughest phone in the world."
However, this is not all that this builders-targeted phone can do, as it can also turn into a walkie-talkie should the network not be available in some areas, which is a pretty common occurrence for builders. Furthermore, if you purchase the
Toughphone, it comes with a guarantee against dust, dirt, shocks and it is even fully water-proof.
