After more than a month and a half of investigations and interrogatories, the Italian magistrates have come to a conclusion concerning the "Calciopoli affair" -
the corruption scandal inside the Italian Serie A. According to a source inside the Italian judiciary system, the final Report on "Calciopoli" will be released "very soon".
The same source mentions the fact that most of the investigation has been successfully carried out, and that almost all the aspects of the affair are very clear now. Still, it refused to give any information on the final decisions. The only thing we know for sure is that the main characters on the "black list" are Luciano Moggi and Massimo de Sanctis. The first was already forced to resign from Juventus, and the latter had to say "good-bye" to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, since FIFA has withdrawn his refereeing license.
After analyzing a little bit the whole investigations, we can conclude the fact that the Italian magistrates interrogated 41 people - footballers, referees, coaches and managers. After the latest information released by the same source, it appears that 37 of those have been already notified concerning the final results. The motive? After the Italian law, this seems to be the last step before finding out if they are to be prosecuted or not.
A series of teams are, therefore, facing relegation. But Juventus may have to deal with much larger problems than that; there are still a few other great clubs that will be very keen to finding out the final results of the report. Those teams are AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina AC. The commission led by Francesco Borrelli will end their report later this week, handling it to the Italian sporting prosecutor for establishing the final conclusions.
