Rumored for months, the lighter and slightly different in shape PSP is a fact

What do you know? The new and improved PSP is real. Looks like every console making company is improving their systems. First, there was Nintendo with their new Wii Channel and Wii-mic, then a German gaming site says that "reliable sources" told them the improved black Xbox 360 from Microsoft is on its way and will probably release in May, now Sony actually confirms the rumored improved PSP. What is this world coming to? One day they release a great gaming platform and before you know it, it's obsolete.

Not only did SCE UK managing director Ray Maguire confirm that the handheld is going to be lighter, but he also said the current PSP is a mere "first iteration." As you may have guessed, changes occurring to the PSP system will not affect in any way the screen's size, as it is the handheld's most valuable feature. The rumored improved PSP has been around for months yet this is the first time it is officially confirmed by a company spokesman. However, Maguire didn't say anything other than a size and weight reduction to the system, nor did he mention a release date for it.

In case anyone noticed, it's custom practice for Sony to slim-up their consoles. It happened with the PSone (although the smaller one didn't look much better), then with the PS2 (that got tremendously slimmer after about four years since the original PS2 had launched), so it was really only a matter of time before the PSP got its facial lift. If I were to say, "a very reliable messenger pigeon told me that a slimmer PS3 is on the way, with a green and mat casing" 2 or 3 years later Sony will have eventually made that slimmer PS3. Even if the green casing isn't confirmed, the slimmer machine is, so bloggers worldwide, be sure to credit me first for when the PS3 gets slimmer.
