The Ian Somerhalder Foundation has recently received a $5,000 (€3,633) donation from Rover.com and, should things go as planned, will get more funding in the months to come.

According to Look to the Stars, this is because the Foundation, whose President is none other than “Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder, has joined Rover.com's Sit-a-Dog, Save-a-Life program.

For those unaware, Rover.com is in the business of helping dog owners get in touch with approved dog sitters that can take care of their pooches when circumstances demand for it.

The Sit-a-Dog, Save-a-Life program has been up and running since Rover.com was established and made its debut, and its purpose is to allow sitters to donate a wee amount of their proceeds.

Apparently, the company now collaborates with some 1,200 sitters who are ready and willing to donate on a monthly basis, and some 40 organizations spread across the entire territory of the United States.

Over the years, an impressive $38,000 (€27,611) were donated thanks to this programs, and organizations and shelters that are in the business of lending a helping hand to animals in need could not be more pleased with how things are working out.

Now that it had entered this program, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation can expect to have an easier time achieving its goal to protect both the planet and the animals that inhabit it.

“We are excited to partner with Rover and thank them for donating to the foundation, uniting their voice with ours, and empowering us to create change. The real potential for quantifiable, worldwide change is reinforced when for-profit companies form collaborative and symbiotic relationships with non-profit entities,” Ian Somerhalder commented on this partnership.

“ISF’s [Ian Somerhalder Foundation] mission and moral standards align to our vision of creating a positive and safe world for animals and their well-being. By supporting ISF and their Animal Sanctuary we are continuing to find ways to make the world a better place so that all pets are in loving and trusted homes,” added Susan Koehler, chief marketing officer of Rover.
