It’s June and there’s a new “Hunger Games” movie coming out in theaters this November. In movie industry-speak, that means it’s time you get yourself reacquainted with the universe of the franchise by getting excited about it.

The other day saw the release of several character viral posters for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” of the tributes from each district. Today, we’re being treated to the first actual footage from the film but I’m not sure it qualifies as a teaser trailer because viral would be a better fit.

That is to say, I don’t think this footage will be included in the film, because it seems like it was made specifically to remind people online that a new “Hunger Games” installment is coming.

Such technicalities aside, it’s a gorgeous piece of marketing. It shows President Snow addressing the citizens of Panem about the importance of each and every district, which represent the body of Panem, and of the Capitol, which is the heart.

It speaks of peace and prosperity and stability and safety but, if you’re not new to the franchise, you know to read all the veiled threats included in it. Right there, next to President Snow, stands Peeta Mellark, Katniss Everdeen’s partner / boyfriend, who was captured at the end of “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” By the look on his face, you can tell he’s made to stand there and act as if he approves of what’s being said.

“Mockingjay Part 1” will be out in November and is based on the first half of the final novel in the trilogy by Suzanne Collins. “Part 2,” which just finished shooting the other day, will open one year from then, in 2015.
