Besides offering fans a first glimpse at Philip Seymour Hoffman in character as Plutarch Heavensbee, the pics, which come courtesy of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, also reveal Sam Claflin as the charming and bold Finnick Odair.
Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Donald Sutherland and Liam Hemsworth are also featured, reprising their roles from the blockbuster original.
Speaking with EW about the challenges of bringing such a popular trilogy of books to the big screen, producer Nina Jacobson stresses the importance of regarding the film as a somewhat separate project.
“It’s as agonizing for us to lose things from the book as it is for a fan. I want every single thing in there. But you know what? If you have to give up something in order to give more time to Katniss and Gale or to Effie as she starts to feel a conscience, you make the sacrifices in order to serve the characters and themes that are more essential,” she says.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will hit theaters on November 22.
