Google Voice Local Search is a new service introduced by the Mountain View company that allows users to get their results straight by phone. Basically, the product is able to work with any Google product but at this time, you can use it only for Google Maps. Let me explain you the procedure: let's suppose you want to find information concerning a certain business included in the map service. All you need to do is call Google at 1-800-GOOG-411, answer a few question and you should receive the information you requested. Also, you can receive a SMS message containing all the details and take them wherever you go. Additionally, the search giant allows you to connect to the number and talk straight with the business owners. The most interesting feature is the link provided by the SMS that allows you to view the location on Google Maps straight from your mobile device.

"In case you hadn't heard, our mission at Google is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The good thing about mission statements is that you can refer to them and decide where you need to go next. We've gotten a good start on our mission already... provided you have access to a computer with an Internet connection, or a phone with SMS and some very nimble fingers," Arnaud Sahuguet, Product Manager, introduced the technology.

At this time, the new service is available only for the US residents and only for English speakers. However, the search giant wants to expand the service but it needs to make sure that it works properly before it starts the expansion. Recently, the Mountain View company debuted Google Maps for Mobile in UK, allowing the country's residents to access the service from any handheld device connected to the Internet. The product is currently available only for the mobile phones equipped with Java support.
