Before Stephenie Meyer wrote the “Twilight” novels that were afterwards turned into the biggest vampire film franchise ever, she penned a non-vampire sci-fi novel called “The Host.” It too has been adapted for the big screen and will be out in US theaters this weekend.

A final trailer for it has been released: check it out above in full.

“The Host” is basically a post-apocalyptic love story, which imagines Earth invaded by an alien race come to bring “peace.” The aliens use the human bodies as containers, erasing their memory. But not all humans go away quietly.

Melanie (Saoirse Ronan) is one of them. Her story is one of courage, resistance, determination and, last but not least, young love.

“The Host” also stars Max Irons (Jeremy Irons’ son), Jake Able, Diane Kruger and William Hurt. It is directed by Andrew Niccol, and is out this Friday, on March 29.
