Somebody in the UK thought that having Hasselhoff on the show and talk about his 'Jump Into My Car' single would be a very good idea. But little did the producers at GMTV network know when they saw the star come on the set all droopy-eyed and slurring his words.
Despite reports that he was intoxicated, that started from the moment The Hoff mispronounced his 'Click' co-star's name from Adam Sandler to 'Adam Sanglier', the producers of the show furiously denied them, laying all the blame on David's tiredness and on the early hour.
Sometime in the middle of the show, as a set of commercials was airing, the mighty actor actually fell asleep in his chair and it took more than one member of the crew to wake him up and make him aware of his surroundings.
After the show, Hasselhoff made a public statement and said that all that happened that day was due to being extremely tired and exhausted. He was backed up by the network executives, who claimed that in no way was he drunk: 'We do not believe he was drunk. There was no smell of alcohol'. On the other side, an insider from the set had a totally different story for the 'London Daily Mail': 'It was first thing in the morning and he sure smelled like booze to me - either that, or he's using some pretty odd-scented aftershave'.
