The sudden way in which Half Life 2 ends, leaved room for speculations related to a possible sequel. The rumors have been confirmed in the last edition of the PC Gamer UK, which revealed that a new Half Life 2 expansion pack will appear and it will bear the name Aftermath.
The action takes place right after the ending of Half Life 2 and it seems that the inhabitants of City 17
will be able to exit the city, but will face creatures who got out of the control of the alien invaders.
It is known for sure that Alyx, Gordon Freeman's partner, will play a much more important part in this sequel. Otherwise, why the rumors that in the sequel the player will be able to control this character?
On the other hand, we don't know for sure of Gordon Freeman is still the main character. There are no details on how long the game will be or if the developers will introduce new weapons and monsters.
From the information published in PC Gamer UK, it seems that the sequel will be released this summer and that it will distributed by Steam.
Anyway, it seems the game will be full of surprises, because the team from Valve appreciated some of the mods appeared in Half Life 2 and decided it's time to have some fun.
So, this summer we will have a lot of work to do with Half Life 2: Aftermath!
