For those of us who don't know him (most of us, actually), meet singer-songwriter Terius "The Dream" Nash. Usually when it comes to successful composers, we don't really pay attention too much do we? And we sometimes forget that behind big names such as Coldplay, Rihanna, Mariah, Kanye, Janet Jackson and so on there are some extremely talented people making it all happen.

Remember Timbaland? The guy's been doing and undoing things in the music industry for a long time and only recently decided to step into the spotlight himself. Well, things are pretty much the same with Nash, whose debut single, "Shawty is the S**t" sounds great (you can listen to it below) and definitely marks a great start for his upcoming album, "Love Hate" which will be out on the 16th of October.

In fact, "The Dream" is a lucky man. He's worked and written hits for many celebrities of the day, so I supposed when he starts pulling in favours there will be many extremely talented - and famous - artists coming in to lend a hand. The names I mentioned earlier - they weren't picked out randomly- are just a few of the great names Nash has been working with in the course of his career. Well, now he's decided to take things one step further and do the performing himself, too, in addition to the writing. And apparently, he's extremely careful about everything that comes out bearing his signature.

"I'm done" he says referring to his album. "We're picking artwork pictures right now. I have my hands in everything - it's in my contract. I'm very intense when it comes to how I'm viewed artistically, not only in music but in pictures or the font my name's in", he adds.

When asked about the sound of his new album, 'The Dream" admits that with "Umbrella" he stepped into a style that's not precisely in the spirit of the day. "It's going to be a cross between "Umbrella" and [J. Holiday's] "Bed". It's very musical. We got ourselves into this thing now - especially on the urban side - where we're not developing the songs like we should be. My album has stupid harmonies on it" he admits.

But "stupid" as it may be, it's all working out great for him. And with all his success, Nash is not afraid that his winning streak will end anytime soon. "If I was getting lucky it would be one thing" he says, "but I know how to write these records a certain way for the masses. In this business, you have to get things that you wouldn't normally get. That's the only way you can stay successful". And we'd better pay attention to this guy, as he's already up there with the big stars and sure knows what he's talking about.
