Another weird gadget whose functionality is contestable

There are so many cool computer keyboards, with some of them being real works of art, and others boasting a remarkable functionality. Some of these peripherals have been especially re-designed for gaming or for specialized tasks such as audio editing, CAD and so on. And there are keyboards that seem to have been created only to confuse people and get them to ponder upon the utility of such gadgets. Unfortunately, in this category we get to introduce the Grippity, one of the weirdest keyboards we've met in the past couple of years.

First of all, the Grippity has very little in common with what you'd normally expect from a keyboard. And while resembling more a gamepad, the first thing that pops in your eye is that you cannot type single-handed.

Given the fact that the Grippity can be used only when held with two hands, there goes half of its functionality and ease of use. But there's so much more: the Grippity does not sport push keys on its upper side – in order to type you'll have to push from the back. Furthermore, knowing the fact that you don't actually get to see what keys your fingers are about to press, you'll also have to get used to this from the start.

As far as the functionality of the buttons is concerned, the Grippity has them all, and there isn't a thing on your keyboard you won't meet here, including media transport controls. Yet, thinking about all the gestures we make to run our everyday tasks, the Grippity will surely not be able to do them all, because of the dual-hand operation issue.

Maybe such a keyboard running on a wireless connection, could be somewhat suitable for "media center"-use... yet we're sure that there are a lot of other niftier solutions out there. In case you feel like giving it a try, the Grippity keyboard is scheduled for the summer and the announced price is somewhere around $100.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
