If the ISS is great for one thing, it's this, spectacular photos

One of the advantages of the International Space Station is that it's there, i.e. that it's in space, enabling NASA and the other space agencies to do plenty of stuff that would normally require dedicated hardware.

For example, the ISS is a great place to shoot photos of the Earth from, something that astronaut Chris Hadfield is well aware of. He tweets several exquisite photos every day, even now as commander of the ISS.

NASA's Earth Observatory has now published one of the photos captured aboard the ISS, after cleaning it up a bit. And it's easy to see why it picked this particular photo, it's gorgeous.

There's no shortage of photos of the Grand Canyon and many of them are quite spectacular. None of them are quite this spectacular though.
