14 DAY TRIAL // Kate and Jon Gosselin were, for a very long time, one of the most popular couples on television. That lasted until they announced they would be getting a divorce because they could no longer see themselves going through life as wife and husband. All this while, the question of how the divorce and the subsequent media scandal would affect the children has not ceased to trouble many.
Speaking with the media in a recent interview cited by OMG Yahoo!, Kate reveals that, while she’s now ok with the idea that she and Jon are separated for good and no longer have anything in common, the children are having a hard time. In fact, she says, the entire situation is extremely confusing for them, from not being on a reality show anymore to having to deal with the realities of divorce.
Because of this, Kate has already seen to it that they get professional help, with a counselor coming over to the house to help them understand what are the changes occurring in their life. “I’ve got to get my kids back on track, my career back on track and my family back on track. They start counseling in the next two weeks. I’m definitely seeing signs that it’s a major need at this point,” Kate says.
It’s not only the kids who are having a hard time with the divorce, the mother of eight goes on to say. “I got phone calls from my friends congratulating me. But I felt like, ‘You’re congratulating me on a failed marriage?’ I knew what they were getting at, because I am starting over and cutting ties from something that was really dragging me down, but it was a rough day. I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of the emotion involved,” she explains.
